So it has been a while since I have been on here!
let's see..what has happened since December 30th? ...
My daughter is here! Never have I heard so many bowel movements (sorry if that is too graphic for you!)
Hubb and my third wedding anniversary was the 6th of January..Hubb kept telling me that our daughter was going to make her debut on our anniversary..I kept praying that she'd at least wait another day so that I could enjoy our anni date. Well, she made it to the 7th! The funny thing? My water broke at exactly midnight! She BARELY made it after my anniversary!
I was asleep, had been asleep for an hour. I hadn't gotten sleep for a few nights because Loralie was sitting on a nerve..major pain. Anyway, I woke up kind of feeling sick and crampy. I stood up and thought "my gosh did I just pee myself??" I rushed to the restroom to find out it was my water that broke! I got into the shower (leaving hubb asleep for the meantime) a little out of it, still trying to accept the fact that my water broke. After it really hit me, I gently called for hubb..he came running in frantic, and half awake. I had to laugh because hubb is out of it when woken unexpectedly..I told him "I think my water broke!" He kind of stood there for a moment and then said "what?? ok..um..I'll go get the bags in the car and the food ready and ..." He kept naming things on and on and on...I just let him talk while I realized I was going to meet my daughter in a matter of hours..
Anyway, we finally got to the hospital at about 2am. The nurse checked me and said that my water indeed had broken (sweet!) and I was dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced..if you don't know about labor lingo..that's a good thing..
The nurses got me into my labor room, which was more like a hotel room. Really nice. Hubb and I were settled in, I was hooked up to IV's and monitors and whatnot and told to take a nap so that I would have energy. The nurse made me a little flustered and had this confidence that I was not going to labor quickly. I had no idea what was ahead of me, and really I did not care. Labor is pretty much laid back until the last few hours so I wasn't worried at all. I knew there was going to be pain, so I figured what the heck..
By 7:30 my contractions were getting pretty painful and I thought for sure I was dilating more, but when the nurse checked me I was the same as when I was admitted. My doctor decided to add a little Pitocin to my IV (which if you have ever had Pitocin, it makes the contractions MUCH strong and more painful) The Pitocin did cause things to get much more uncomfortable, however I progressed QUICKLY. I was dilated to a 9 by 9:45. By 10:30 I was fully dilated and effaced, the nurse had me start to lightly push to get Loralie "down" a little so that when doc showed up I would be fully ready to push her out. I would have had Loralie out in 15 minutes, but the nurse had me wait until doc showed up, who was in the middle of a C-section. at 10:45 I started to push, I just told the nurse that I couldn't hold off..she let me. By 11:20 the doc was there and told me to give it all I had. Loralie was out at 11:25. 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 20 inches long.
What a sweet heart she is! I love her. We have had a little bit of a scare..she had Jaundice. I know, I know everyone has Jaundice when they are born, big deal, right? Actually it kind of was, the doc and nurses were nervous about Lolo since her Billirubin levels were high. They got even higher a few days after she was born and she lost a pound..it wouldn't have been a huge deal about her weight had she been large when she was born, but since she wasn't even 7pounds it was a little scary. However now, she has been eating like a little monster and growing quickly!
Wow, long post! That's what has been up! I'll update life other than being a mom when I get the time, for now I have to get going to feed my little munchkin!
Blessings
